When he boarded the project isn't clear right now, but it appears he was tasked with writing the screenplay alone without any writing partners. That bodes well for the spinoff, which takes place between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Infinity War ,as he's clearly a writer with plenty of experience in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who has proven himself on a number of occasions. Now, the Black Widow "Extended Look" that aired last night reveals that he's responsible for penning the movie's screenplay based on a story from Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson.
It was all uphill from there, though, as he did a rewrite on Thor: Ragnarok and uncredited work both in pre and post-production on Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Eric Pearson joined Marvel Studios as part of its Writer's Program and was later asked to take a crack at the Ant-Man screenplay during the period Edgar Wright left the project.
